Description

Time management game where Jack, the pug, has to take the ingridients and make as much Bacon Pancakes as he can, Finn, the human, is eating them because he is so hungry!

**NOTE* Just to clear things up, I wrote a Copyright disclaimer at the end of the Help/Controls section where I say that ALL the material belongs to cartoon network. I used assets from google images because I wanted the game to be just like in the chapter when jake makes bacon pancakes. I did it JUST LIKE THAT, it was the purpose. I had to edit the images, those are sprites animated with the animator in unity. The only things made by be where the bowl and the mixer (using Gimp) and also took the flour, egg and milk icons from gogle images. I'm not an artist, I worked alone, so I had to save time, I just took a few hours to edit the background (take the jake cooking from there, separate the kitchen, clear the fire, fill the holes, clone the floor, the tree, the walls, etc) also took some time to dismember jake, finn (faces) and BMO to create the ragdoll sprites and then animate. Music was taken from a remix in a youtube video (I asked for permission) and sfx from freesounds.org with CC0, so, everything was legal.

Technology used

Unity3D, Gimp

Help / Controls

Play on itch.io online: http://nosmirck.itch.io/makin-bacon-pancakes

There are links to my dropbox public folder where I uploaded the binaries for all platforms, still, the game is perfectly playable from web browsers with Unity Plugin.

Place each ingredient to prepare the bacon pancake just with drag and drop!

To make a bacon pancake you must first mix the ingredients in the bowl:

  • 1 Egg.

  • 1 Flour.

  • 1 Milk.

Then, put the bacon in the frying pan, wait for it to be ready to put the pancake mix

  • BMO will show his screen green when the bacon is ready.

  • There will be a bar in the bottom of the frying pan, if it gets to red, the bacon is burned, you must put another bacon in the pan.

  • Click the mixing bowl when it has the pancake mix and the bacon is ready.

  • The timer will start again, this time cooking the pancacke alongside with the bacon.

  • Click the pan when it's ready (green bar and BMO show his screen green)

  • Feed Finn!

Each bacon pancake worth 100 points and +10 seconds

Each consecutive successful bacon pancake worth 100*consecutive pancakes.

You can dispose non useful or not needed items to BMO, he will consume them for 5points and +1 second.

Try to make as much points as you can! this is a never ending game if you do it right, with time, items will appear each time faster, making it harder to catch them.

Enjoy my game!!

POQA_TZ (Tina Z) 4 1 2 Used all copyrighted assets making a game. I would have given a higher score if they were all blocks and paint art instead of copyrighted assets. The only original piece of asset I see is the timer bar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrcT7sseLZI

It was better than most games in controls and technical, (also graphics and audio but I can see why you didn't include that) I love this game, it's one of my favorites, and I wish I could give it more high ratings than just 3 :)

This is late, but I saw something in the itch.io Public Domain Jam FAQ that explains why some of us were a bit upset about the assets you were using. Does this make our stance a bit more understandable?

Can I use public domain art/sound assets in my game? No. You should make your own art/sound

This was a really hard one. While the point of the jam is to promote the use of public domain work, it's also a game jam where people are scored against each other, and a game that's used a lot of pre-built assets is likely to have an advantage against a game where all those assets are made from scratch. That's kind of against the spirit of game jams, so we're possibly going to deal with public domain art/sound assets in a separate jam later on!
