Description

This is a game about leprechauns and rainbows.

As any self respecting leprechaun will know, but only hesitantly admit, there is a pot'o'gold hidden somewhere below the rainbow. This knowledge, or at least its belief has been passed down for generations amongst these chubby little fellers. As such they will jump at any oportunity to venture off on a quest for gold and glory. They however tend to get a little single minded while in persuit of their beloved gold and just run off towards the closest rainbow in sight, taking no heed of anything else.

Try to guide him to his gold by placing rainclouds which produce rainbows during the simulation.

Sadly it's only 90% done, and more levels are missing. Also, our leprachaun is missing his hat: http://bacongamejam.org/jams/bacongamejam-06/179/ :D

Technology used

It's made from scratch with pygame, all images are hand drawn, both sounds are from freesounds. Python, pygame+numpy, pyinstall, Gimp, tiled

Help / Controls

Launching

Windows: Unzip, and run game.exe. (Pyinstaller seems to do some funky stuff AntiVirus Progs arent happy with, you might need to add an exception, or run from source with python for windows, pygame and numpy)

Linux: Just run the file

The goal is to get the leprachaun to his pot of gold while conserving water.

Gameplay

The game consists of two modes: Setup mode and Simulation mode

Setup Mode:

  • Place/select/move rainclouds with the left mouse button
  • Use scroll wheel up/down to adjust the amount of raindrops in the cloud
  • Right clicks remove a cloud again
  • Space to run the sim
  • r to reset to default setup (this clears all user placed clouds)

Simulation mode:

  • Space to pause the simulation,
  • r to reset the sim and return to setup mode

Try to minimize the amount of water wasted!

foopy64 (James Miller) 7 4 1 8 6 6 5 5 6 Really cool concept. I was confused at first, but reading the description again helped. One gripe is that it is very finicky, but hey. Hey.

devPhil (Phil Gullberg) 6 4 4 6 6 4 5 7 5 I like the idea, was struggling a little bit though. Too bad you didn't get the chance to make more levels. Would have been great with a couple of levels to just ease you into the mind thought has to go in to solving this type of puzzle.

Ha, or probably we won't touch it again, ever... :D

    Yep, not going to happen.

That was incredibly fun to make. Sadly we ran into some heavy bugs right before the deadline. But we'll probably complete it soon.
